Smart Feeder for Cat Feeding Schedules and Monitoring
A web application for setting cat feeding schedules and reviewing updates from a feeder device: connection status, food supply, and leftovers.
TECHNOLOGIES USED
Laravel 10 / PHP / MySQL / Blade / Bootstrap 4 / JavaScript / Chart.js / TCPDF
PROBLEM
Feeding schedules, supply in the container, and food left after meals are different pieces of information. A schedule alone does not show whether the device responded or how much food remains. These readings need to be brought together without treating leftovers as a definitive measure of a cat’s health.
MAIN FEATURES
-
01
Per-cat feeding schedules
Owners can save and edit three feeding times for each cat.
-
02
Feeder device updates
The API receives feeding acknowledgements, device status, leftovers, and container-level readings.
-
03
Supply summary
Container-level readings are converted into an estimated percentage of remaining food.
-
04
Food-leftover history
Records from each feeding time are summarized by day and shown in a chart.
-
05
Eating-pattern summary and PDF
Leftover percentages can be filtered by date and exported to PDF; the indicators are not medical assessments.
IMPLEMENTATION
The Laravel application provides cat profiles and three daily feeding times that owners can edit. Endpoints receive feeder updates for feeding acknowledgements, leftovers, container level, and connection status. The dashboard shows schedules, a daily leftover chart, estimated food supply, and device status. Owners can review leftover records and date-filtered eating-pattern summaries, with PDF export for the latter. The application’s eating-pattern labels are calculated from leftover percentages, not a medical diagnosis.

RESULT
Owners can review schedules and feeder updates in one dashboard, then compare leftover records across days. Supply estimates and connection status help show when the device or container needs checking.
