CASE STUDY

Education & QR Web 2023

Yamai ATID Flora & Fauna Education Platform

A web application for exploring the flora and fauna at Yamai ATID. Visitors can open each collection record or scan a QR code in the park, while administrators update the data, images, quantities, and QR codes from a dashboard.

TECHNOLOGIES USED

Laravel 10 / PHP 8.1 / MySQL / Blade / Bootstrap 5 / AdminLTE 3 / JavaScript / Vite / Simple QR Code / TCPDF

PROBLEM

Information boards in the park have limited space and are not easy to update. Visitors still need common, local, and scientific names, biome details, and a short explanation for each collection. Administrators also need the records and QR codes to point to the same information so updates are not repeated in several places.

MAIN FEATURES

  1. 01

    Public flora & fauna catalogues

Flora and fauna are grouped by category so visitors can browse the collection more easily.

  2. 02

    Detailed collection records

Common, local, and scientific names, category, biome, quantity, description, and image are available on one page.

  3. 03

    In-browser QR scanner

A phone camera can open a collection page directly from a QR code in the park.

  4. 04

    Centralized record management

The admin dashboard provides search, category filters, record forms, image management, and quantity updates.

  5. 05

    Print-ready QR codes

Codes can be generated per collection and downloaded individually, as a ZIP archive, or as a PDF sheet.

  6. 06

    Dashboard & reports

Flora and fauna summaries are available on the dashboard, while entity data can be exported to PDF.

IMPLEMENTATION

I built separate public catalogues for flora and fauna, with record pages and a camera-based QR scanner in the browser. In the admin area, staff can add, search, filter, edit, and remove collection records and images. QR codes are generated from the same records and can be downloaded individually, together in a ZIP archive, or on a print-ready PDF sheet. The dashboard summarizes the collection, and entity reports can be exported to PDF.

RESULT

Collection records, visitor pages, and QR code destinations are connected in one flow. When information changes, administrators do not need to rebuild separate pages. Visitors have a quick way to identify a collection, while staff retain a dashboard and printable outputs for day-to-day work.
